Clocks go back Sunday: a ten-minute lock check
Daylight saving ends November 1 and the evenings get dark early. Ten minutes at your doors now saves a long night later.

When the clocks go back, it’s dark by 5:30 and break-ins tend to rise with it. A quick check takes about ten minutes.
Your ten-minute checklist
Close each door and make sure the deadbolt throws all the way into the frame. If you have to lift, push or pull the door to lock it, the strike plate is out of line, and we can fix that in minutes.
Check that the screws in your strike plate are at least three inches long. Short screws are the first thing a kick finds.
Look at your spare keys. If you don’t know who has one, rekey. It costs less than a new lock and every old key stops working.
If anything sticks or feels loose, call us at (937) 555-0148 or send a photo from our Get a quote page. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a ten-dollar fix or a new lock.
