A deadbolt and handle on a dark door

Homes

Rekey it, replace it, or add a smart lock

Most locks don’t need replacing. If it works and it’s good quality, rekeying is cheaper and stops every old key from working. If it’s worn out or too cheap to trust, we’ll say so and fit a better one.

Common questions

Emergencies

How fast can you get here?

In Dayton, Kettering, Oakwood and the neighborhoods around them, most calls get a locksmith at the door in 20 to 35 minutes. Out in Huber Heights, Springboro or Fairborn, plan on 30 to 50. We give you a real time on the phone, then text you when the van is a few minutes away.

Does a person really answer at 3 a.m.?

Yes. Carla or one of our technicians picks up the phone, day or night, including holidays. There is no call center and no dispatcher in another state. If we’re on a job when you call, you’ll get a text within minutes with an arrival time.

What do I have to show you?

Before we open anything, we ask for a photo ID with your name and, for a home or business, something that ties you to the address, like a utility bill, a lease, or mail. For a car, we need the registration or title. If you can’t show it, we can’t open it, and that protects you too.

Will you damage my door or lock?

Almost never. Picking and bypass tools open most home, car and office locks without a scratch, and you keep the lock. If a lock is broken or jammed and has to be drilled, we tell you before we start and replace it on the spot.

What does a call at night or on a holiday cost?

There’s a flat $45 after-hours fee between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. and on holidays, added to the normal price. We quote the total on the phone, so the number you hear is the number you pay.

Pricing

Do you charge for quotes?

No. Lockouts get a price over the phone. For installs, rekeys, a building full of locks, or a safe, we’ll quote by phone or from a few photos, and if we need to see it, the visit is free when you hire us. Send photos on our Get a quote page.

How can I pay?

Credit and debit cards, tap-to-pay, cash, or a check from a business account. We take payment when the work is done and email a receipt you can use for insurance or a landlord.

Cars

I lost every key to my car. Can you make a new one?

Yes, for most makes and models made in the last 25 years. We come to your car, cut a new key from the lock or VIN, and program it right there. You don’t need a tow, and it usually costs well under a dealership.

Why not just go to the dealer for a key?

A dealer often needs the car towed in, an appointment, and several days. We bring the machines to you and finish in about an hour. A transponder key or fob from us starts at $149, and a spare is cheaper when we’re already there.

Homes & business

Should I rekey my locks or replace them?

If the locks are in good shape, rekey them. It costs less, and the old keys stop working. Replace a lock when it’s worn, sticky, or too cheap to trust, and we’ll say so honestly. Rekeying a five-lock house is $119.

Do you install and fix smart locks?

We install keypad, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth deadbolts, set up the app with you, and make sure the key override still works. We also open them when the battery dies or the code is lost. Labor is $79, and you can buy the lock from us or bring your own.

Do you work on offices, shops and apartment buildings?

Yes. We rekey whole buildings, set up master key systems, fit panic bars and storefront locks, and service door closers. We can do it after hours so your doors are never unlocked during business.

Can you open a safe without ruining it?

In most cases. We open home and office safes by manipulation or bypass, then reset the combination or cut new keys. Safe work starts at $175, and we quote it first from the make, the lock type and a photo.

Not sure what you need?

Send a photo of the lock or call us. We’ll tell you what it takes and what it costs, and we won’t sell you more than you need.
