The van and the shop
A family business, on call all night
Ray Delgado started Keyway in 2009 with one van and a key machine in a garage on Valley Street. He’d spent twelve years behind a hardware store key counter, and he knew that people don’t call a locksmith on a good day.
Today his wife Carla runs the phones and dispatch, their son Marcus handles cars, and Tess does business and building work. Every call is answered by a person, every tech is background-checked, and the shop is still on Valley Street.
- Prices quoted before the van leaves
- Techs are bonded, insured and background-checked
- Most lockouts open without drilling or damage

Questions we hear on the phone
How fast can you get here?
In Dayton, Kettering, Oakwood and the neighborhoods around them, most calls get a locksmith at the door in 20 to 35 minutes. Out in Huber Heights, Springboro or Fairborn, plan on 30 to 50. We give you a real time on the phone, then text you when the van is a few minutes away.
Does a person really answer at 3 a.m.?
Yes. Carla or one of our technicians picks up the phone, day or night, including holidays. There is no call center and no dispatcher in another state. If we’re on a job when you call, you’ll get a text within minutes with an arrival time.
What do I have to show you?
Before we open anything, we ask for a photo ID with your name and, for a home or business, something that ties you to the address, like a utility bill, a lease, or mail. For a car, we need the registration or title. If you can’t show it, we can’t open it, and that protects you too.
Will you damage my door or lock?
Almost never. Picking and bypass tools open most home, car and office locks without a scratch, and you keep the lock. If a lock is broken or jammed and has to be drilled, we tell you before we start and replace it on the spot.
What does a call at night or on a holiday cost?
There’s a flat $45 after-hours fee between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. and on holidays, added to the normal price. We quote the total on the phone, so the number you hear is the number you pay.
