A pin tumbler lock cylinder next to its key

A landlord bought a nine-unit building with no idea who held keys. Every lock was rekeyed in a day, with a numbered key system.

The previous owner couldn’t say how many copies of each key were out there. Rather than guess, the landlord had Keyway rekey all nine front doors, the laundry room and the mailbox bank.

Tess and Marcus rekeyed each cylinder in place, built a numbered key chart and tagged the spares so a lost key can be traced.

The result

One master key for the owner, a unique key per tenant, and a record of who holds what.

“I use Keyway for every turnover on my rentals. Same price every time, receipts I can send to my accountant.”
